We are relational beings created by God to know others and be known. The New Testament describes the church as a people, not a building, so we desire to center our lives on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and allow him to form us into a community.
The dropdowns below are the main ways we encourage people to get connected with others at Freestone Baptist as we strive to live in Gospel Community with one another.
Church membership is a commitment every Christian should make to attend, love, serve, and submit to a local church. God gives us church membership for our encouragement, protection, and instruction. People who desire to partner with Freestone Baptist Church as a member can follow this 4-step process.
2. Membership Interview: The prospective member will have a one-hour interview with the pastor to go over basic biographical information and recount God's regenerating grace in his or her life. The prospective member would then sign the statement of faith and church covenant.
3. Pastor Recommendation: The Pastor will review the applicant’s testimony; if there are no questions/concerns candidate’s application proceeds to the next step: congregational affirmation.
4. Congregational Affirmation: At one of our every other month Member's Meetings the pastor will recommend the candidate for membership, describe how the candidate came to know the Lord, field questions, a vote is taken, and with a majority of votes secured, the candidate is admitted into membership.
In the New Testament Hospitality is not so much of an action (for example: inviting someone into your home) and more of a mindset of intentionally inviting people into your everyday life. If Freestone Baptist becomes your church home, you will notice that most of the ministry here at Freestone Baptist Church falls under the heading of hospitality.
In a one-on-one discipling relationship, two Christians of the same sex meet together for a time of fellowship, studying scripture, accountability, and prayer. Each meeting begins and ends with prayer and is focused on discussing and applying a spiritually rich book or passage of scripture. One-on-one discipling aids in spiritual growth and enables Christians to know others and be known.
There are several ways you can volunteer and serve here at Freestone Baptist Church. When we serve, we are living as Christ lived (Mark 10:45).
If you are new to our church we want to serve you and see your soul nurtured in this community before we ask anything of you. For this reason the door to all service in our church is membership. We want you to commit to love and serve this body, and we want to commit to love and serve you in the same way. Once you have committed to this body through membership we can discover together the unique giftings and opportunities God has provided for you to serve this church.
